La respuesta de Staats y Fernández-Ballesteros (Crítica y conocimiento científico versus hipnosis: Respuesta a V. Pelechano) se basa en argumentos de autoridad, auto-referencias y pensamiento desiderativo dejando sin tocar los argumentos epistemológicos y teóricos, Mientras es comprensible el afán de absoluto de algunos de los autores que proponen algún modelo (como los citados), la realidad es que ese afán no resuelve los problemas, y abunda en una actitud dogmática que se aleja peligrosamente del diálogo y del progreso científico. Actitud a la que corren peligro de acercarse Staats y Fernández-Ballesteros, a la que, por otra parte, tienen perfecto derecho; otra cosa es el valor de verdad que esa actitud y sus afirmaciones lleven consigo

Abstract

Staats and Fernández-Ballesteros answer to criticism made by Pelechano about the formulation of paradigmatic conductism in psychological assessment (Criticism and scientific knowledge versus hypnosis: An answer to V. Pelechano) is based on authoritarian argument self-reference, and wishful thinking without touching on theoretical and epistemological arguments. While the absolutist tendency of some writers is understandable (as those cited above), this tendency doesn't solve problems scientifically and abounds in a dogmatic attitude which loses its way receding from dialog and scientific progress, an attitude in danger of befalling Staats and Fernández-Ballesteros, and while they are quite in their prerogative to adopt this stance, the true value which this altitude and what their statement entail is another matter
