El modelo de control de fuentes en la evaluación de la credibilidad de testimonio: una revisión

Resumen

El modelo de control de fuentes se ocupa de cómo los recuerdos de lo percibido se juzgan como tales y, habitualmente, no se confunden con lo imaginado. Para ello, trata de determinar las características diferenciales de ambos tipos de recuerdo. Esta aproximación ha generado investigación en diversos campos de la psicología, como en la clínica, e incluso en algunos fenómenos que interesan a la psicología forense. Sin embargo, no hay mucha investigación relativa a su potencial utilidad para la evaluación de la credibilidad del testimonio (en relación a las posibles semejanzas entre lo imaginado y lo inventado con el propósito de engañar) a pesar de lo importante que sería disponer de una fundamentación teórica en una actividad que, hasta el momento, se ha desenvuelto de manera enimentemente empírica. Se repasa la literatura relevante. Se señalan determinados aspectos del modelo que cabría refinar y se proponen algunas líneas de investigación futuras.

Abstract

The source monitoring model deals with how the memories we perceive are judged and, at the same time, how they are not mixed up with what we might imagine. To get this result, the source monitoring model attemps to determine the distinguishing characteristics of both types of memories. This approach has generated investigation in different fields of Psychology, like clinical Psychology, and even in some issues in which forensic Psychology is interested. However, there is not very much investigation related to its potential use to test the credibility of testimonies (with regard to the possible similarities between what is imagined and what is invented in order to deceive) in spite of how important it would be to have theoretical grounds within an activity that has managed basically in an empiric way up to now. Scientists always revise the relevant articles. Some aspects of this model that should be refined are pointed up and some future investigation lines are put forward.
