Resumen
La revisión de 2004 de la Estrategia Europea para el Empleo llega en un momento en que la Unión Europea realiza esfuerzos muy importantes para afrontar el problema de la discriminación por edad. Aunque la reciente evaluación de la Comisión es más bien positiva, un análisis más profundo revela la necesidad de hacer frente a la discriminación por edad en todos los Estados Miembros. Por su parte, en marzo de 2003 el Consejo Europeo aprobó las líneas básicas de un proyecto sobre el tema y puso en marcha diez prioridades de acción para los próximos años.
Abstract
The 2004 survey on the European Employment strategy comes at a time when the European Union is making substantial efforts to tackle the issues of age discrimination. Although the recent evaluation conducted by the EU Commission is generally positive, a review of the strategy revealed the need to increase the efforts addressed to eliminate all forms of age discrimination in most Member states. Also, in march 2003, the European Council agreed to the proposal for updated employment guidelines, and set out ten priorities for action for the next few years.
