Resumen
El presente artículo pretende poner de manifiesto la necesidad de realizar una precoz detección y diagnóstico de la hipoacusia infantil para minimizar las graves consecuencias que un diagnóstico tardío de ésta tiene para el desarrollo del niño sordo. Se aportan datos sobre la puesta en marcha de los primeros programas de detección y diagnóstico precoz de la hipoacusia en España, y cómo el uso de los implantes cocleares y el aprovechamiento del periodo crítico auditivo están ofreciendo nuevas posibilidades a las nuevas generaciones de niños sordos
Abstract
This issue tries to show the necessity to make a precocious detection and diagnostic of boys hipoacusia to diminish the severe consequences a delayed diagnostic has for the development of the deaf boy. Data on the beginning of the first programs of detection and precocious diagnosis of hipoacusia in Spain are presented, and how the use of the cochlear implants and the advantage of the auditory critical period are offering new possibilities to the new generations of deaf children.
