Influencia social y cambio ambiental. Actualidad y prospectiva de las estrategias de intervención

Resumen

La acción humana está detrás del inicio o del mantenimiento de problemas como el agotamiento de recursos naturales, el impacto negativo sobre ciclos de materiales renovables como el agua, la contaminación atmosférica, con su participación en el efecto invernadero y en el fenómeno de la lluvia ácida, la desertización o la pérdida de la biodiversidad. Esta situación de conflicto ambiental con un origen generalmente social justifica ampliamente la incorporación de estrategias de intervención propias de las ciencias sociales y del comportamiento que puedan ayudar a responder a esta problemática que nuestra sociedad tiene planteada. El reto que la psicología ambiental y otras disciplinas afines tienen planteado, se centra en la necesidad de comprender la función de la conducta individual e interpersonal en el origen y la evolución de los problemas ambientales y la forma en la que ésta pueda cambiarse de manera consistente u e lente. La perspectiva de investigación-acción del campo de la influencia social puede contribuir en cierta manera a la resolución de este grave dilema mediante el desarrollo de procesos de cambio que pretendan la promoción de actitudes y comportamientos proambientales entre una población determinada

Abstract

The action of the man lies at the back of the starting point or continuity of problems such as the exhaustion of natural resources; the negative impact on the cycle of renewable resources like water; air pollution and its repercussion in the greenhouse effect and the acid rain phenomenon; the desertization or the loss of biodiversity. The fact that this problematical environmental situation has generally a social origen does justify the incorporation of intervention approaches from social and behaviour sciences which can help to solve this problem that our society is facing at the moment. The challenge that the environmental psychology and other related disciplines must deal with, is the need to understand the function of individual and interpersonal behaviour in the origin and evolution of environmental problems and the way in which it can be changed on a permanent and efficient basis. A research-action perspective from the field of social influence can contribute, in a way, to solve this serious problem by developing change procedures aimed at the promotion of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviour among a specific population
