Clínica y Salud [Clinical and Health] is the publication entity for scientific expression of the Official College of Psychology of Madrid (

Clínica y Salud is an open-access journal with 3 regular issues (March – July – November). All articles are immediately and permanently accessible to facilitate their reading and download.

Clínica y Salud aims to publish high quality and internationally significant manuscripts and, therefore, manuscripts should be written in English.

Clínica y Salud is a journal covering mainly original research literature of interest for psychologists within the field of Clinical and Health Psychology.

Authors should not submit manuscripts simultaneously to multiple journals.

All original contributions will be evaluated anonymously (double blind) by external expert reviewers designated by the Editor (peer review).
Authors are not charged any fees or charges for manuscript processing and/or publishing in the journal.

The use by readers is regulated by the Creative Commons license: Attribution- Noncommercial-No Derivative Works (CC-BY-NC-ND). This license allows the reader to read, print, download and translate the article for exclusively personal use and/or share it with a third party, provided credit is given to the author, the version of the article is not modified and none of the uses of that article are for commercial (profit) motives.

Submissions Guidelines

1. Submit a manuscript to Clínica y Salud implies that it has not been sent simultaneously to any other journal, or previously published elsewhere.

2. The journal adopts standards and publication style of APA Publication Manual (APA 7th ed), published by the American Psychological Association, Washington D.C., USA ( and authors should review it to solve any doubt

3. Original articles. Manuscripts should have a maximum length of 20 pages. Texts should be double-spaced with a wide margin (e.g. 2.5 cm to each side), with all pages numbered (including the title page). The manuscript should be prepared by using MicrosoftWord 12 point Times New Roman font. Tables and figures should be numbered, and their location should be indicated within the text. These should appear together at the end of the file in separate pages. The tables must be produced using the key and without using dividing lines. Please submit tables as editable text and not as images. References should also follow APA style and they could not be more than 35 references. Manuscripts will include an abstract (content summary not including more than 150 words). References should include the corresponding DOI. Authors can paste the list of references onto the website and obtain the list of references with the DOI for each one. In those cases that have a DOI, it is also possible on the same website to get complete details of a reference.

4. Short articles. These will cover summary exposure of some empirical work. They should be structured as: Introduction, method, participants, instruments, procedures, results and discussion. After these sections, they will include acknowledgments (if any) and references. Manuscripts should have a maximum length of 6 pages DIN-A4 size and up to 3 tables or figures will be allowed. References should also follow APA style and these could not be more than 15 references. Manuscripts should include an abstract (summary of the content in no more than 150 words).

5. Systematic reviews. Systematic and meta-analysis publication reports should use the guidelines in the following article: Cajal, B., Jiménez, R., Gervilla, E., and Montaño, J. J. (2020). Doing a Systematic Review in Health Sciences. Clínica y Salud, 31(2), 77 - 83.

6. Letters to the editor. They will refer to works published in Clinical and Health and will provide opinions, observations or experiences that, due to their characteristics, can be summarized in a short text. The maximum length will be 2 pages in DIN-A4 size, without summary, and up to 5 bibliographic references will be included.

7. Book reviews. Journal will publish book reviews that are relevant to Clinical and Health Psychology. The maximum length will be 2 pages in DIN-A4 size.

8. Opinion articles. They collect authors’ specialized opinion on a relevant subject which contributes with their personal lines of thought related publications may be referred to. It can be signed by one or two authors. These does not include summary nor sections. 6 pages extension in DIN-A4 size is allowed, excluding bibliography, which should consist of a maximum of 15 bibliographic references.

9. Clinical cases. Their maximum length will be 6 pages in DIN-A4 size excluding bibliography, which should consist of a maximum of 15 bibliographic references and up to 2 tables or figures. Clinical cases should use the guidelines in the following article: Vicente-Colomina, A. D., Santamaría, P. y González-Ordi, H. (2020). 10. In any of the article types that are submitted to the journal for consideration, graphics and figures, if any, should be included at the end on separate sheets and behind the tables, also indicating its approximate location. The graphs must be made in grayscale. The authors are responsible for acquiring the written permission of all the authors material that may be protected by copyright which they want to reproduce in the article, such as figures, charts, tables, without this constituting a comprehensive catalogue. If excerpts of other copyrighted works are included, the author must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and give credit to the source within the article.

11. First page of manuscript. The title of the work should be written on the first page of each manuscript, and its translation into Spanish will also be included, along with a short title, the name or names of its author(s), their affiliation (not a full postal address), key words, a postal address for correspondence and any other information related to the manuscript’s elaboration or concise thanks which the author wishes to transmit and which are of interest

12. Highlights. At the end of the research work and, after the references, two or three paragraphs should be included which explains the most original, relevant and novel ideas of the research work. These should enhance the main contributions (from 35 words to 80 words per paragraph). It is also advised that the text be novel and it could also be verbatim extracted from the manuscript main text (not from the abstract).

13. Funding.  Authors must declare the origin of any economic or technical aid received for the research project. This funding should be reflected within the title page of the manuscript.

14. The responsibility for obtaining written permission to use any material likely to be subject to copyright protection is authors responsibility. This includes, but it is not limited to, figures, graphs, tables, images and photographs.

Open Access Policy

Clínica y Salud is an open access journal.

- Conditions of pre-print self-archiving: Prior to final publication, it is advisable for authors to file their preprint version on their personal and institutional websites, scientific social networks, repositories, bibliographic managers... The preprint must include the following statement: "This is the electronic version of an article accepted for publication in Clínica y Salud [year], now available online on the official website through its DOI:”. Once published, the authors must specify: "This is the electronic version of an article published in Clínica y Salud [year]. The final version is available at the official website, on the date indicated in the preprint, through its DOI".

- Conditions of post-print self-archiving: Authors are allowed to reuse published works, i.e. the post-print (final PDF version of the publisher) can be archived for non-commercial purposes, and authors are strongly recommended to deposit it in:

  • Social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn…).
  • Institutional repository of your University and public repositories (Mendeley, Cosis…).
  • Scientific social networks (ResearchGate,, Kudos...).
